Car Finance Questions Answered

  • You'll need a current NZ driver's licence, proof of income (recent payslips or bank statements), and some basic personal details. The online application takes just a few minutes.
  • Most applications get a decision within one business day, and many customers hear back within just a few hours during business hours.
  • Yes. We offer no deposit finance for eligible applicants. Putting down a deposit can lower your weekly repayments, but it isn't required to get started.
  • Repayments are set up by direct debit on whichever schedule suits you: weekly, fortnightly, or monthly. You'll agree on the amount and frequency before you sign.
  • There's no single credit score that guarantees approval. Our lending partners, including UDC Finance, Finance Now, Marac Car Loans and MTF, each assess applications individually against their own responsible lending criteria, looking at your income, expenses, and overall financial circumstances rather than one number. A past default doesn't automatically rule you out. The most reliable way to find out where you stand is to apply, or call our team on (07) 849 0083.
  • Yes. Income from a benefit is treated the same as any other income source under New Zealand's responsible lending law. Our lending partners, including UDC Finance, Finance Now, Marac Car Loans and MTF, assess your benefit income alongside your other financial circumstances, the same checks that apply to every applicant. Apply online or call us on (07) 849 0083 and we can talk you through it.
  • Yes. Self-employed applicants are welcome to apply. You'll just need to show proof of income, such as recent bank statements or financial records, instead of standard payslips.
  • You need to be at least 18 to enter into a consumer credit contract in New Zealand. Beyond that, eligibility comes down to your individual circumstances and the lender's criteria.
  • You'll need a current NZ driver's licence to apply. If you're on a restricted or learner's licence, call our team on (07) 849 0083 before applying so we can talk through what's needed for your situation.
  • How much you can borrow depends on your income, expenses, and overall financial circumstances, which our lending partners, including UDC Finance, Finance Now, Marac Car Loans and MTF, assess as part of every application. Apply online or call us for a clear picture based on your situation.
  • Terms typically range from 1 to 5 years. You can choose weekly, fortnightly, or monthly repayments to match what suits your budget.
  • Yes. You can apply for finance first to get an idea of your borrowing power before you start browsing, or choose your car and apply at the same time, whichever's easier for you.
  • If your circumstances or the car you choose changes, talk to our team before signing. In many cases the loan amount can be adjusted, but it depends on your approval and the lender's terms.
  • Our rates range from 10.69% p.a. to 17.95% p.a., depending on your financial circumstances, including how much you're borrowing, your loan term, income, other commitments, and credit history. Call us on (07) 849 0083 and we can talk you through the rate likely to apply to you.
  • In many cases, yes. On-road costs and insurance can often be rolled into your finance so it's all covered in one repayment. Ask our team when you apply and we'll confirm what's possible for your loan.
  • Yes, you can repay your loan ahead of schedule. Early repayment terms and any fees depend on your specific loan agreement, whether that's with UDC Finance, Finance Now, Marac Car Loans, MTF, or another lender, so check your contract or ask us before you do.
  • A guarantor is someone who agrees to take over your loan repayments if you're unable to. Not every application needs one: it depends on your individual circumstances and the lender's assessment. We'll let you know if it applies to you during the application process.
  • Your finance is provided by one of our lending partners, such as UDC Finance, Finance Now, Marac Car Loans or MTF, not a bank. These are established New Zealand vehicle finance lenders. We help you apply and manage the process, but the loan itself sits with them, and their lending criteria, fees, and terms apply.
  • Our team is happy to talk you through your options before you commit to anything. Call us on (07) 849 0083, email enquiries@4guys.co.nz, or apply online and we'll follow up.
