American Muscle Car Finance NZ
Finance for our range of American performance vehicles, whether it's a fresh import or one already established in New Zealand
Fresh Import or Already Established? Finance Works the Same Either Way
Most American muscle cars are built left-hand drive, so a genuinely fresh import needs a Left Hand Drive (Category A) permit from Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency before it can be registered here. It's a requirement we take care of on your behalf, and it doesn't affect your ability to get finance.
If the car you're looking at has been in New Zealand less than 4 years, it's still on that original permit, we'll apply for it using a few extra details from you alongside your finance application. Once a vehicle has been here 4 years or more, it comes off the permit altogether and is bought, sold, and financed exactly like any other used car on our yard.
We currently have both on the yard, some cars in their first few years in New Zealand and some well past the 4-year mark, so if you're not sure which applies to a vehicle you're interested in, just ask our team.
Why Financing an American Muscle Car Is Different
Because of the type of vehicle these are, we've negotiated preferential finance rates with our lending partners specifically for this class of car. Beyond that, the application and approval process works the same way as any other 4Guys finance application, through UDC Finance, Finance Now, Marac Car Loans, or MTF, assessed on your income, expenses and credit history under New Zealand's responsible lending requirements.
We're also flexible with how these are financed. Businesses can finance a vehicle through us just as individuals can, and balloon payment structures are available if that suits your situation better than a standard loan. Talk to our team about what fits best before you apply.
How It Works
1. Choose Your Vehicle
Browse our current range of American muscle cars, from fresh imports to vehicles already established in New Zealand.
2. Apply for Finance
We assess your application the same way as any other vehicle. If your car is a fresh import, we'll also apply for its Left Hand Drive permit on your behalf using a few extra details from you.
3. Get Approved & Drive Away
Once you're approved, and any permit is confirmed for a fresh import, you're ready to collect your car.
American Muscle Finance FAQs
-
Not necessarily. Because of the price point these vehicles sell at, we've negotiated preferential rates with our lending partners specifically for this class of vehicle, so the rate you're offered can be just as competitive as a standard used car loan.
-
It's a permit from Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency required for genuinely fresh, left-hand drive imports under 20 years old. You don't need to apply for it yourself, if the car you're financing is still within its first 4 years in New Zealand, we apply for the permit on your behalf as part of the sale, we'll just need a few extra details from you.
-
No, it happens the other way around. We apply for the permit once your finance is approved and everyone's happy to go ahead, so it never holds up your approval. From there it's usually accepted within a few days, running alongside the vehicle's compliance for New Zealand roads rather than your finance.
-
It's usually less than people expect. Insurance on our American muscle vehicles typically isn't priced like an equivalent luxury European car, even at a similar purchase price. We'd recommend getting a quote from your insurer before you apply so you know your full running costs.
-
Generally no. Some higher-performance models need a premium oil grade, but overall servicing costs sit in line with a typical used car and aren't higher than what you'd pay on an equivalent European performance vehicle.
-
Yes. We work with both personal and business finance applications, and balloon payment structures are available if that suits your situation better than a standard loan. Talk to our team about what fits best before you apply.
-
The same lending partners we use across our range, UDC Finance, Finance Now, Marac Car Loans, and MTF. We've simply negotiated rates with them specifically suited to this class of vehicle.
